Coming up this week, Dan Frechette and Laurel Thomsen will perform in Beckman Institute Auditorium (Little Beckman) at 8PM on Saturday, August 27. Dan’s songs, spirited vocals, and guitar will surely captivate you, and Laurel’s soulful and sprightly violin and fine vocals provide the perfect counterbalance, making for a great show! Russ Paris (of Russ & Julie’s House Concerts) said, “Dan Frechette and Laurel Thomsen are everything we could hope for in a house concert. Their songs are great, their musicianship is top notch, and their stage presence and interaction with the audience is wonderful… a true delight.” In music magazine, Penguin Eggs, Les Siemieniuk wrote, “Great songwriter…terrific violinist… and together their voices blend beautifully and harmonically.” Dan is from Manitoba, Canada and he began making recordings in the early 1990’s. He has written some 1300 songs and he’s known for his guitar and harmonica talents, as well as his songwriting abilities. He teamed up with Bay area violinist, Laurel Thomsen in late 2012, and they have been attracting attention throughout Canada and the United States. Listen to Laurel’s fine vocal and Dan’s excellent guitar on Little Bird and then hear Dan sing lead on Puddles in the Rain with fine harmonies from Laurel. Tickets are $15 and you can call the Caltech Ticket Office Monday through Friday, 9:00AM – 4:00 PM at (626) 395-4652. You can buy tickets online for this show here until August 25.
