SUMMARY:On Sale: Singer-songwriter Sarah McQuaid
DESCRIPTION:We’ll be at Knox Presbyterian Chuch. Purchase your tickets now through Eventbrite. Including fees\, Adult tickets are $33.85 and Caltech students/youth through high school are $12.51. \nSarah McQuaid’s lush\, velvety voice combines with her engaging personality and “brilliant musicianship” (fRoots) on acoustic and electric guitars\, keyboards and (occasionally) drum to create a truly immersive experience. Her live performances are full of warmth\, wit\, and intimacy\, and have earned her loyal followings on both sides of the Atlantic. \nBorn in Spain\, raised in Chicago\, holding dual Irish and American citizenship and now settled in rural England\, she brings the eclecticism of her background to her “captivating\, unorthodox songwriting” (PopMatters) and choice of material. From contemplative ballads to playful blues to atmospheric instrumentals\, Sarah’s music invites reflection\, connection\, and a deep appreciation of the quiet power of a well-crafted song. \nIn April 2017\, Sarah was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Ards International Guitar Festival in Newtownards\, Northern Ireland (previous recipients include legendary guitarists Davey Graham\, John Renbourn\, John Martyn\, Martin Simpson\, Pierre Bensusan and Martin Carthy) in recognition of her innovative use of DADGAD tuning and her authorship of the Irish DADGAD Guitar Book. Presenting the award\, Ernie McMillen of Avalon Guitars said “It is rare in the guitar world to find a player who displays genius without arrogance\, and who shares their hard-won skill and knowledge so selflessly. I get to see many specialist guitarists up close\, and many over-perform. It’s honey for the soul to witness Sarah McQuaid perform.” \n \nEnjoy Sarah’s music on: \n\nWebsite sarahmcquaid.com/music\nYoutube www.youtube.com/channel/UCvf4HEYTqVkSpZKeVPm7AhQ\nBandcamp sarahmcquaid.bandcamp.com/\n\nIf available\, tickets will be available at the door the night of the concert\, $35 for Adults and $10 for Caltech students and youth. SUMMARY:Save the Date: Low Lily on Feb 6 2027
DESCRIPTION:Tickets will be on sale later in October\, please check back.  \nWith a vocal and instrumental blend that has been dubbed “outstanding” and “meticulous”\, the members of Low Lily (Liz Simmons\, Flynn Cohen\, and newest member Lily Sexton) come together to create a signature sound that has captivated audiences throughout the US\, UK\, and Canada. \nLow Lily is the colloquial name for the Trout Lily\, a wildflower that grows in the northeast and in regions further afield. Like its namesake\, the band has been blooming across the musical landscape since 2015- throughout the northeast and beyond. Liz Simmons (guitar\, banjo & vocals)\, Flynn Cohen (guitar\, mandolin & vocals)\, and Lily Sexton (fiddle & vocals) blend their considerable individual talents into a stylistic bouquet of energetic fiddle music\, introspective folk\, bluegrass\, and Americana. The trio has deep roots in the fiddle tune and singing traditions of North America and the Anglo-Celtic diaspora. \n \n \n
