DESCRIPTION:Andy Irvine is one of the great Irish singers\, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as “a tradition in himself”. \nMusician\, singer\, songwriter\, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his over 60-year career. \nAndy has been at the helm of legendary bands like Sweeney’s Men in the mid 60s\, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s\, and then Patrick Street\, Mozaik\, LAPD and recently Usher’s Island. Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians. See the full list of his recordings here. \nAs a soloist\, Andy fills the role of the archetypal troubadour with a show and a travelling lifestyle that reflect his lifelong influence\, Woody Guthrie. To quote the Irish Times\, “Often copied\, never equalled”\, his repertoire consists of Irish traditional songs\, dexterous Balkan dance tunes and a compelling canon of his own self-penned songs. \nAndy plays a range of instruments including bouzoukis (part of the Oud family\, a mix of guitar and bass)\, mandolas\, and mandolins\, and a “bassouki” (a regular bouzouki restrung and tuned to CGDG). \n \nUpdated October 18th\, 7:30 AM\, Tickets Available at the Door!  Online sales have ended.    \nWe will have 41 tickets available to sell at the door this evening\, and it’s first come\, first served.    Click here for parking information and location of the hall.  \n$40 for adults\, and $10 for Caltech Students and Youth through High School \nWe only accept cash or checks for tickets sold at the door. \n\n\n\n Pets and emotional support animals Are NOT ALLOWED\, no exceptions.  Registered Service animals are allowed under the Americans with Disabilities Act. On weekends and after 6 p.m.\, parking is allowed even in spaces labeled with individual names. On this Caltech campus map\, Beckman Auditorium is #91\, Beckman Institute is #74 and the parking structures are #123 and #124. Also\, street parking is available along Wilson Avenue and some other nearby streets.
