The immensely popular Scottish Group, Old Blind Dogs return to Pasadena on Friday, February 23 at 8:00 PM, back in our usual location Beckman Institute Auditorium (“Little Beckman”). They are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a brand new album Room with a View. Composed of founding member Jonny Hardie (Fiddle/vocals), Aaron Jones (guitar/bouzouki/vocals), Ali Hutton (pipes and whistles) and Donald Hay (percussion), the band continues to generate the very best of Scottish roots music with their own unique flair. Middle Eastern rhythms, Gallaecian, Breton, Blues and Jazz influences whirl into the mix. The band’s infectious sound will likely get you up and dancing. Check them out unleashed at last year’s Celtic Connections Late Night Sessions. But they also are masters of the tradition’s softer side, as is demonstrated in Earl O March’s Daughter, a track on their new recording. Each of the band members are well-regarded in their own right on the Scottish traditional music scene, but together the Dogs possess a very singular sound that has kept fans loyal for years. If you are an old fan, they are probably at their peak, if you are new to them, come on and take a chance –you won’t regret the fun!
