New Artists Series: Inspiring Singer-Songwriters Tipps and Obermiller on July 26

Hilary Tipps and Steve Obermiller are a wife-husband duo from Texas gaining ardent admirers for their heartfelt songwriting and singing, with tight vocal and guitar harmonies. We are delighted to offer the first California opportunity to experience a concert by them on Saturday, July 26, in Caltech’s cozy Beckman Institute Auditorium, at 8 p.m.

Hilary Tipps and Steve Obermiller have captivated audiences with their heartfelt songwriting and emotive performances. Their latest release, “MacGuffin” (2024), showcases a collection of songs co-written by the pair, following the success of their debut album, “Love (and Other Mysteries)” (2023).

New Artists Series

Fifteen of the past 16 concerts presented by the Pasadena Folk Music Society have featured musicians who have previously performed at least once in our 42-year series of concerts.  Yes, we have some favorites whom we like to hear repeatedly, and fans turn out to hear them.  This show is different.  Two of our volunteer board members heard Tipps and Obermiller as part of a new-talent showcase for Folk Alliance members several months ago.  Mightily impressed, they worked to make this month’s concert possible.  It’s riskier committing to the expense of a concert by less well-known musicians, however talented.  Trust us: Come hear this impressive couple and you’ll be glad you seized this opportunity.  And you’ll encourage us to introduce other new talents in future Pasadena concerts.
